After receiving his Ph.D. from RPI, Ward held several research
and management positions, and is one of the founders and a
former executive of ATMI, a Danbury, CT high tech company.
He has had an interest in carving and woodworking since being
a teenager. His formal education in fine woodworking includes
course work at North Bennet Street School and, most recently,
Bucks County Community College.
While my leanings have been toward early American furniture,
and its making and restoration, Mark Sfirri recently introduced
me to the world of contemporary wood art. I am fascinated
by the range and drama of work being produced today and find
it inspirational in my own work. Currently, I have been taking
features of various historical pieces and incorporating them
into music and plant stands.
